Good game, just hard to figure out what to do next and its a little annoying that it doesnt save your progress.

This is a remastered version of that game!
It's been a long time in the making. After my kickstarter campaign, I struggled getting a coder to stay on board for The Root of All Evil. During that time I kept looking into new ways that I could do it by myself. I tried learning Gamemaker Studio 2, but that didn't work out so great. I then looked back into a program called Visionaire. I spent the last two months learning how it works and was able to create the game you see before you now. The reason I remade ADDO as my first attempt at using the program was to test out the mechanics of the engine without feeling overwhelmed by a much larger game. However, I now feel confident that I'll be able to take on a larger project such as TROAE.
I appreciate everyone's patients with me, and I'm excited to finally start making games again!
I couldn't of did it without everyone's support.
Special thanks to Deven Mack, Josh Tomar, and Andy Denis for coming on board and bringing this game to life with their amazing voice acting skills!
The size of the download is quite large. I recommend playing on a computer; however, the game can be played on mobile devices. Mobile should be played in landscape mode for best results.

I so love these games
Many things are an improvement over the original, most notably in the kitchen where you're allowed to put the hot sauce in the dog food first, whereas in the original you were forced to put the water in the oven first. The visuals and sounds are also of a higher quality, but that's kind of a given for a game that was released 16 years later and wasn't rushed for Halloween.
A few gripes, though:
-Luke's opening monologue in the original does a much better job of establishing both the setting and the game's tone. The slideshow here is rather dry by comparison.
-Using an item on an object that doesn't react with said item just kicks you out of the "item usage" mode. There should be a generic "that doesn't work" line to show the player that the game isn't bugging out, it did register that you did something, you just did the wrong thing.
-The safe puzzle is still a pain in the butt, and I could only get past it with a walkthrough. I'm not sure if you received many complaints about the original's safe puzzle, but maybe the game could hint at the solution better if you, say, use the "look" action on the painting or the safe repeatedly.
Not bad for a point and click adventure game. Could do with some tweaks to the UI, but its good fun
GodDAMN!! this game is old hahahaha. I first played this game at like 2am after getting bored with joecartoon listening to NOFX!!! lmao
That demon's voice is a perfect fit
