MÆRE II is the sequel to MÆRE. A game I made last Halloween. It is a game about trying to sleep in a haunted room. MÆRE II: Hypnagogia is the sequel to 2023's MÆRE. The original game was a great success, being awarded the Host's Choice in Scream Jam 2023, as well as ranking 2nd place for best horror game. Here on Newgrounds, it placed 4th in Halloween Spooktacular 2023.

How to play

The object of the game is to fall asleep.

HOLD J to close your eyes.

RELEASE J to open them.

Keep your EYES CLOSED and FEAR levels low to fall asleep.

If you hear something in the dark it will raise your FEAR levels, as will seeing an entity.

It is difficult to fall asleep if you are afraid. So make sure you keep your FEAR level low.

You can reduce your FEAR level by looking around the area where ou heard the noise coming from, this will reassure you that the area is safe.

Use A and D KEYS to look around.

Ghosts thrive on attention. So if you do see something that should not be there. Don't pay attention to it and eventually it will leave you alone.

When asleep you may dream.

Nothing can hurt you in your head.

But you may still feel the sensation of pain.

W and S Keys: Navigate the Menu

J Key: Select from menu

A and D Keys: Look around the room

Hold J: Close your eyes

Release J: Open your eyes

K Key: Take Diazepam

MÆRE II builds upon the original concept and addresses the key criticisms of the game. Unlike in MÆRE I, the events in MÆRE II are randomised meaning that each play through should be unique. It is also possible to be killed by the ghosts, should you allow your fear level to rise too high.
