So I'm learning Godot now xd

Very short test project made to... well, test. Test out stuff like grid based terrain and basic enemy AI

CONTROLS:

Movement - W, A, D, space or arrow keys

This could be considered my first game, except not really. I used to program in Scratch like 5 years ago

Game, art and music all by me

P.S.: The ground may not be displayed for you and I have no idea why. It works on my PC, but not on my laptop

I think you could implement coyote time (aka jumping frames after you leave a platform) to make the movement on slopes less jank and make parkour less unpredictable, also enemy ai should be able to go up slopes since it looks like they could do that

pretty good overall, could work as its own game

it's really cool for your first game! much better than I thought it would be!

still my toaster was running slow

AndrewCr responds:

I'll blame the slow speed on Godot

it's alright for the first game, but overall it definitely leaves to be desired. consider adding coyote time and the proper ending to the game next time (at the very least just some text saying you did it or something)
nice music tho

AndrewCr responds:

I'm a music composer, not a game dev (yet), so that does make sense xd

As for the weird movement, I just used the default Godot player movement preset

The movement needs tweaking. My guess is the top speed is high but the acceleration is low. Jumping feels heavy.

I'd have appreciated an ending to the game and some sort of visual feedback when you hit an enemy (eg sparks, player animation)

Nice work so far.

AndrewCr responds:

There isn't even any acceleration, you just hit the top speed and that's it lol

Hm.. There are a few issues like egg slowing down on slopes and jumping being janky on slopes, but for a first test game this is fine

Music is def the highlight here, eager to see what'll come of this in the future!

AndrewCr responds:

Checks out, I'm more of a composer than a game dev

Also, I think I know why the slope jumps are janky. The player has a square hitbox and the slopes a triangle one. When the player stands on a slope, the point of collision is literally just one point
