(Overview)


SAP is a fast paced Rogue-Like set in a creepy forest! Battle your way through waves of insects as you try to uncover your reason for being. Collect Power-Ups to increase your odds of survival. Collect card abilities every few kills. Things tend to get darker at night & the spiders get more angry. Use your Flashlight to keep them at bay. Good Luck Solider!


(Features)


  • There are 3 enemy types, 1 boss, 5 power-ups, 4 shop items, 8 card abilities and 1 trap Item in the game currently.
  • The amount of kills needed for a new card increases by 2 each new card.
  • Day & Night Cycle.
  • Most of all the sound effects heard within the game are made by me.

(How to get Poop)


Ladybugs eat coins when they are not in range of the player. They also have a chance when being hit to get confused and forget that the player is nearby and eat some stray coins. After a few seconds the ladybug will defecate. This will repeat until all the coins that were eaten are gone. If the ladybug is killed before all the coins have passed. There is a chance some will be salvaged and returned to the player.


(Cards)


  • Double Shot - Increases bullet count from 1 to 2.
  • Bigger Bullet - Increases bullet size and damage.
  • Bursts Of Wind - Propels the player in their movement direction every 5 seconds. movement speed increases from 65 to 75.
  • Lifesteal: Steals the life of enemies within range. Dealing 0.5 damage and 1 steal damage every 3 seconds. Once you accumulate 50 steal damage you will be given 1 heart.
  • Loot Goblin - Increases coin value from 1 to 3.
  • Stronger Flashlight - Increases flashlight duration from 30 to 60 seconds.
  • More Recoil - Increases recoil strength from 1 to 3.
  • Curve Shot - Bullet strafes to the right after .35 seconds.


(Abilities)


  • Speed - Increases the players movement and attack speed.
  • Damage: Increases the players damage and decreases the players movement speed.
  • Penetration: Increases bullet penetration.
  • Health: Increases the players health by 1.
  • Flashlight: Takes batteries (Keeps the spiders from getting aggressive while pointed at. They will also take burn damage every few seconds).
  • Dash: Allows the player to get a burst of speed for a split second.
  • Katana: Allows the player to slash enemies. Hold the mouse closer to the player for less forward force.
  • Sap Shot: This is the players default attack. The recoil can be treated as a gift rather than a curse.


(Story)


There once was a time when there were no monsters out to get you. Where darkness didn't fight for the spotlight. Not here... Not too long ago a seed was taken from his home. He lived in a pot not too far from here. Probably in someone's window. After the Spiders? stole his pot and left him in this unknown place. He has no choice but to fight for his home.


(Structures)


  • Home Base: If the base goes down; So do you. Keep it safe and repair it if needed.
  • Composter: Compost your poop to gain access to core items.
  • Vending Machine: Use Ant Venom to purchase batteries for your flashlight.
  • Shop: The blue house located beside the Boss Statue is the shop. Here you purchase "The Dash" and "The Katana".
  • The Door: The door allows access to the bottom of the map. Only opened with the key from the Composter.
  • Trap: The trap sucks in enemies and deals damage to them with sap. If enemies are angry or hit out they may be able to escape.


(Difficulty)

There are 2 bosses. The SpiderKingwith 100 hp and The Ghost King with 200 hp.


(Misc)


Sap is an Indie solo project. It started as an idea after playing Hollow Knight. It was going to be a Metroid style game. Now this is what I have created over the past few weeks. Any feedback is welcome.

Rogue like flash. Graphics show off the forest with plenty of greens. The night and day mechanic does a nice job of going from brightness to darkness. Gameplay starts off a little fast with bugs creeping all over. You should tone things down when your first start. That would give the player a chance to get comfortable with the gameplay.
