Pretty fun game. It was a bit difficult to get used to. But when knowing the controls it's really fun to speedrun.
KID PHOENIX is a funny platforming game about a kid phoenix born in a water temple. Get him outta there!
Product of a one-week game jam, with the goal of making a platformer that just feels dang nice to play.
(we ended up working on it for a month)
We're working on a longer version of this so stay tuned maybe???
The soundtrack is out on Bandcamp and Soundcloud!!!

FLIPPIN HUGE GAMEPLAY FIX!!!
Turns out there was a tremendously shitty bug/oversight that broke the wall-jumping mechanic on some hardware. Maybe it's a CPU or Windows 11 thing or something. Anyway, we found a workaround and it should work as intended now.
Keep on being dang nice B)
Patch 1.2

love the game! feels weird at first but once you get the hang of controls and how to move around, you go through the level in a breeze B)
Honest opinion? The wall-jump controls are terrible. There is no consistency in the way that wall-jumping works—sometimes you're able to do it just fine; other times, you just get no height while clung to the nearest wall; and more often than not, you physically have to decouple yourself to be able to do anything because you can only slide down otherwise.
The majority of the water cannons being on random cycles is a real screw with the player's head, too. If they shot at a consistent rate of fire, I could time around it. But when I'm waiting at the bottom of a long vertical tunnel and see a sprayer malfunction once... twice... three times... it fucks with any sense that I can get up safely, because what if I get up the wall, get stuck because of the poor wall-jump mechanics, and die an undeserved death? Add in the fact that I'm on a timer (which I initially thought was a health bar because I didn't notice it go down until the first time I died), forcing me to try and rush, and it's just... not a good experience whatsoever.
It's a rage platformer that wasn't TRYING to be a rage platformer.
A precision platform game with pretty awful-feeling platforming. The jump in the very first section requires an excessive understanding of the game's sticky momentum.
I DID IT I BEAT I MADE BLACK ADAM KID PHOENIX PROUD!!!!!
