Story

A stranger emailed you a weird program which requires a humongous amount of RAM. Luckily, you had installed an app that downloads RAM and exponentially increases your download speed!

Gameplay

Download RAM Idle is a fast-paced idle game that gradually introduces new mechanics keeping everything fresh and the numbers growing. It has polynomial growth as well as 2 prestige layers.

I am a sucker for idle games and this is a great one. But I do not think that the 4hrs playtime is realistc. It is definitley more.

I'm giving you 5 stars for putting an enormous amount of time and thought into this game. But I have to give MYSELF zero stars because I am so easily confused that I can't understand what I'm doing, lol. I blame it on the fact that I'm old and my brain is just tired.

I wish I have a computer this powerful.

Very good idle game, had a very good time with it. Not often you see this well made and long idle games on Newgrounds – usually they have very few layers and can be completed in an hour or so.

I have a few points though:
1) Like mentioned in another review, the text is too small in several places. The best example is the singularity where I disabled the RAM usage when the IQ gains were too low. But I then had too zoom in (on my browser) to read the duration estimate so I know if I should turn the singularity RAM on or not.

2) I'm pretty sure you have a bug in the late game where you can disable the auto repair for PC 2 and when you repair it, the RAM reaches unreal values (have screenshot + relevant save if you need). Maybe not a problem in the repair stage but it carries over into the normal game. This occurs in the e100-e200 SC range – perhaps after you get the relevant achievement or later repair upgrades. I say it is a bug as you literally get more than the program e10,000,000 RAM instantly and as you can't end the game there, I assume this wasn't the intention. I got it on two occasions (as my first save file was deleted, probably an accident on my side). On game 1 I jumped to about e30,000 SC and on game 2 (after more grinding) I got to e700,000 SC or so. If you try to use all of this, the game might block you or even crash. You also skip all the IQ waiting time (after black hole).

3) I like the "find the next step" thing in this game when progress is slow but it sometimes feels like you are pushed into the next step too early – such as SC repair 3 and 4.

Also, by my interest for numbers and dates etc., is there a reason behind the date 12/01/2078 on the start screen or just a random future date?

Luis0413 responds:

Really helpful feedback! The date has no meaning, it's just set into the future because it's more fitting the game's events

First ever comment on Newgrounds; surprisingly engaging idle game, had a blast completing it.
