SPECIAL FOR PIXEL DAY 2024

An updated and improved version of AerPG's battle mode.

Many things are cut out for the sake of quality & file size.

I started work on reviving this project exactly 1 week before release.

I will be updating this game based on the feedback I get.

Backstory:

Aeron Arroje was a promising young athlete with an incredible agility. This skill caught the attention of powerful people. Aeron was asked, or almost forced, to be part of a team of genetically modified super soldiers- The Chimeras.

The Chimeras banded together to attack a terrible threat. In succeeding, they themselves became the threat. Aimless after triumph, they were nothing but mercenaries. Some of the fishier ones were mermercenaries. It all went downhill when the team was put under the supervision of the Blue Demon and his robotic goons.

The legendary Blue Demon was a ruthless gang leader in life. His blade struck like lightning, and his words stung like... smaller lightning. This gained him countless enemies. He has an unstoppable hunger for power. Lucky for him, he owns Blue Moon, an electrical company that he uses as a front for his sinister operations. He knew that each of his closest friends were itching to put a knife in his back. He dreaded the thought of dying before completing his empire, so he set out for immortality. In secret, he ordered the construction of robotic avatars for him to control.

As each passing mission became crazier, The Chimeras grew to hate the Blue Demon. Most of them quit in a huge sweep. Blue Demon is enraged that they left, but he couldn't be happier that they all scattered. It's easier to squash them alone. That is, except for the one who always dodges...

After splitting from the team, Aeron is on Sandtiago Island to investigate a powerful force that Blue Demon said would awaken inside. It may be a desert island, but this is no deserted island. In the eyes of Giorgio, the kid who makes life from sand sculptures, this island is an ever-spacious sandcastle gallery. Though, to Bomba, the loud reckless treasure hunter, this is just another place to loot and resell. With Sandsters, Robots, and Hunters on the loose, it doesn't go well.

Huh, not too shabby! It's basically a cute Undertale-esque SHMUP boss rush, and it does a decent job at providing a good variety of boss patterns, as well as some goofy twists and turns like the guy who runs out of bullets, haha! I also like that it has some strategy to it, such as where you can optimize your damage by switching to the gun that only fires upwards, but faster, when it is appropriate.

In terms of feedback, the game is a bit rough. In general there's a lot of minor jankiness with animations and transitions that are a bit awkward. Additionally, I played for a long time without realizing you had another weapon and a grenade because it doesn't teach or provide a HUD that you could intuit this from. Speaking of weapons and abilities, it's also a bit strange that it doesn't provide any cooldown timers on the HUD, making me unsure whether I could throw the grenade or dash again yet. I also wish the damage/health was equalized across the board instead of being surprised when a boss attack does so much damage for some reason. I also just got really confused when the game changed characters to this blast jump dude and the jump controls were weird and glitchy and I had no idea what the game wanted me to do.

Despite its roughness, this was pretty fun at its core and shows a lot of promise in creating varied combat scenarios!

we have undertale at home

Very cool battle gimmicks! I got through the first row of bosses and it was pretty fun, also got a start on the second row too and I love how you changed up the movement. Changing the play area, the different kinds of attacks and projectiles, all made the game very varied up and unpredictable in a good fun way. Keep up the great work :)

This is awesme.
