This game is meant to be played on computer!

This funny game I made in a few days is basically what you call a game that makes you mad (at least according to my friends). This game is also a remaster of the original game, epic boss battle that I made a few years back. If you are new to the game, it is recommended to try practice mode first.

This game was made in Scratch because i'm too bothered to actually made it in a real game engine. The file is currently 37.5MB, so I can't even save the project to the cloud, I have to have to save it to Google Drive. Please do tell me if any of the songs are copyrighted. I will try my best to find a replacement for the song. Please also tell me feedback or suggestions so I can make the game better for everyone.

Current Version: NewgroundsRelease-v1.3.4

  • FIXED MEDALS!!!
  • Added settings bar adding some new customization.
  • You don't need to do the konami code to get practice mode! Go to the settings instead.
  • Hints/Feedback added, allowing new players to understand how they died and how to avoid dying again. (Turn this off in the settings)
  • Some redirect buttons where added to the settings
  • Epic Boss Battle is now on IndieDB and Gamejolt! (go to settings)

Q&A

Q: Will there be settings to configure your experience?

A: With version 1.3.2, this is now possible! Hit S for settings.

Q: Will you ever stop making this game?

A: I really don't want to. This game is really fun and it's nice to see my friends play around with it and ask suggestions and such. I will try to update it as much as I can, but I do have other games played in mind.

Hello, I think this game is pretty good. The premise is simple, but good The game is easy to understand but hard to master. The only thing that is bad is the issues the game has. And still, the creator listens to the community and fixes the issues the players give him. Overall, a pretty good game.

honestly, i think this is fun.
my only complaint is that i'm having trouble understanding what's killing me half the time.

specifically, aside from the "blasters" lasers which instantly kill you, everything else seems to deal damage at random.
sometime i'd take 3 and some other time i'd take 20 from the same attack.

the exact pointer hitbox is also somewhat unclear, as sometimes i get hit even though it feels like i shouldn't. though that must be a visual problem and not the game's fault.

another minor issue i have is the "green floor" at the bottom of the screen.
it's a perfectly serviceable play area, so you can move there normally, but due to the color of the bullets being yellow it's difficult to use, and it also adds nothing to the gameplay.
personally, i'd be fine with it not being there at all and only having a solid blue background

tbh i think most of the "difficulty" comes from the fact that you can basically hit the boss only during its blasters attacks (when it's completely still), while every other attack pattern either doesn't have a hitbox to attack, or the movement tracking makes it so it's impossible to stay in line with the boss without getting hit in the process.
considering the patterns are picked randomly, it all comes down to how many blasters attacks in a row you can get before all the other patterns kill you

my most hated pattern is the bullet circle because it triggers instantly regardless of the previous pattern and each bullet deals about 20 damage, so if you're locked in the middle from the previous pattern for whatever reason, you're pretty much dead.
the bullets themselves are really big, and staying near the border also kills you, so it's really difficult to dodge as well (for me)

edit: i hate bullet circle so much it does so much damage and when i die to it i'm told i died "due to touching the screen" regardless. it's like it's mocking me

Edit: The new update definitely improved the game. For it being your first game it is pretty fun. Especially the attack I criticized at first is now extremely satisfying and fair good job.
I would make the damage ups more frequent.

Rage games are not supposed to be unfair. The one pattern where the bullets come from all directions is impossible to do no hit, why not just make the bullets slower? That would make the pattern doable but still really hard. The lasers might spawn in positions where there is no way out and you will die. Make it so you can hold the left mouse button to shoot.

agentn86 responds:

Your ideas are great and I will be putting them on my todo, but I don't know about those blasters. I do have an idea to just make them spawn slower but I would like to hear your suggestions. Thanks for the feedback though :)

(Edit: Made the update to fix your issues except for the holding left mouse thing. I will be adding it soon though!)

Was a bit confused, would highly advise changing the music as copyrighted music isnt allowed, otherwise, perhaps make it a bit more clearer by telegraphing what's gonna happen for an attack

agentn86 responds:

I am going to change the copyrighted material thankfully (I will do this probably next update). I just don't really know what I would do for telegraphing an attack, maybe I could put text on the screen or make the spaceship do some haptic. For now, I will probably do text but a haptic will be on the todo. Thanks for the feedback though :)

(Edit: Made a new update to add your suggestions, hopefully I made it better for everyone!)

Very fun and creative! Just needs some polish
