Also, minor disclaimer -- the game is gonna run poorly. Not really much I can do about it -- I've optimized it to the best of my ability, but an html will still run worse than a downloaded application. If you'd like a link to a download, you can get one here.


The slimes are coming...

Build defenses to slay the horde of baddies coming your way! Dodge, weave, and stumble your way through the waves of blades and spells making their way to cleave right through Your Groblinness!

Groblin Survivors is a 2D bullet-hell tower defense horde survival roguelike et cetera I'm working on turning into a full game. Instead of new auto-attacks, your upgrades are towers! This was an idea I had cooking up during BRJ (cough cough LINK cough cough)  but I ended up going with a different idea. Eventually decided, "Screw it, I wanna make something" and instead of coming up with a new original idea I looked through my old ideas 'till I found something I liked. Bada bing bada boom, behold, Groblin Survivors!

Controls

WASD to move.

  • 8/13/2023 00:30 PST: Added Wave Counter (will add a "highest wave" count in the hub eventually! But rn I need to go to sleep, the only reason I'm up rn is caffeine lol)
  • 8/13/2023 8:30 PST: Optimized collisions (untested, lmk how that goes), added an unpause button so you don't need to press esc, added a "YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE PAST WAVE 3" mechanic for beginning players where YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE PAST WAVE 3. This was done for a couple reasons but mainly -- the first run tends to be pretty bland cuz you can get pretty far with just the ballista. Instead of just rebalancing the game like any normal person, I'm cutting off the run early and encouraging the player to buy upgrades.

  • 9/1/2023 9:19 PST: Been working on this since the last one, doing a lot of rebalancing n stuff. I planned to hold off on updating for a bit longer but voting just started!! So I'm getting this out now. For starters, I added a new wave! That's the most pressing matter -- say hello to the Slysgjarnt! Their hexblades act as buffed up rogues, and their warlocks can give a healing effect to nearby enemies. After that wave, for now, it'll go back to the town guard -- having a bunch of Slysgjarnt every wave would not be fun for the player lol. Additionally, I've also changed the font to something more readable -- that was one big feedback I got often. I also added a world border so you can't just go anywhere, and it's harder to get lost, and I added text to all of the starting menu options so hopefully that's more clear. The tutorial is still pretty bad, but I'm working on making a new one. I GOT RID OF TOTEMS! They're still in the game, for those who already had them, but once you refund you won't be able to purchase the upgrade for them. They just felt like an unnecessary upgrade that made other towers useless, so eh. RED OUTLINES ARE ALSO ON BY DEFAULT!! Too many people kept missing that it was an option, and honestly the game's better with them on anyways. So I'm making them on by default. If you've played the game before it'll save whatever option you had before, though. DAMAGE NUMBERS ARE A THING NOW!!!!!! That's right. Have you ever craved the mind-numbing addictive adrenaline rush of having larger and larger numbers appear on the screen? Well now you can!!!! Say hello to damage numbers!!! CANNONS SUCK NOW!!!! Well, they aren't that bad, but they were just too powerful before, so I've given them a pretty large nerf.

Very charming and fun, I really hope to see this game on steam someday because I would buy it in a heartbeat! It's very fun and addicting and I just couldn't put it down, Amazing work <3
