Dungeon Cleaners (technical demo)

Hello, I am RM120 and this a new game I'm making, gameplay wise is clearly inspired by games like vampire survivors and 20 minutes until dawn and so on. This is a small technical demo in which you can play as a witch and survive 5 minutes. For now, there is only 10 kind of upgrades, but of course, I will add more in future.

CONTROLS:

  • Movement -> WASD.
  • Left Click -> Shoot fireballs.
  • Right Click -> Shoot icespikes.
  • Pause -> press P on the keyboard.

Because it's a technical demo there's many things I didn't put, for example:

  • BGM
  • Sound Effects
  • Still deciding if make an infinity world or one with borderlines.
  • Decorative assets

Your feedback is very important in order to keep polishing the game, that's why I will need different points of view in regards gameplay and balancing, specially because I want to add more characters with different gameplay styles and more spells. I want the community to help me with their opinion.

More monster varieties with their own unique weaknesses
Some powerups to take the edge off. Getting overwhelmed without a hope of escape ain't much fun
Some basic context like who we are and why we're killing blorbs in a dungeon. That's just me though.
I like Washington's suggestion of classes, but it might be a pain in the ass to balance that.

Overall, it's decent and I await to see what you'll bring in the next update.

Thank you for your review, I'm working on improving the game with all the feedback I get, right now I'm creating a new character with a totally different skill set and her own set of masteries. The game will have characters with different gameplay styles and I'm also fixing the enemy rate spawn. I will post some news here on Newgrounds and Twitter in the following week.

Overall I mainly agree with the first person, as in it's hard for a game like this to stand out due to the sheer number of games like it. One suggestion I have is it could be interesting to be able to choose a class that can each do different things. Also it's very important to have some sort of enemy variety, for example some monsters could be immune to fireballs but weak to ice and vice-versa.

rm120 responds:

Of course, I will add more enemies and characters, this is just a technical demo. Thanks for your review.

My first piece of advice would be to explain the controls in-game

Second, make it a bit easier to get that first level. The game is at it's hardest by a pretty significant margin at the very start

But the biggest issue is that it really needs something to stand out. There's a lot of games like this now, and nothing here gives people any reason to play it over it's kin

rm120 responds:

Thanks for your comment, I will take everything in consideration.
