** EASY MODE BETA OUT NOW **

Pathfinder is a small momentum-based platformer built in unity. The game is a solo project of mine, with the overall goal being to create a fast-paced movement-centered retro-styled platformer that encourages replayability.

  • The goal is simple, finish each level without exhausting your available jumps while avoiding traps and obstacles.
  • Different color palettes separate the three main sections of the game, each features a different selection of challenges and obstacles that will stand in your way.
  • The game features a timer and jump tracker to log your fastest most efficient clear of each level, this will encourage players to return to the game and aim for faster, cleaner runs of each section.

the currently available version is A DEMO for the full game. It DOES NOT represent the final product of the game. As development is ongoing, please be patient and watch for new features, changes, and updates!

Love the game- check the itch.io page for my pbs on each map: https://schweem.itch.io/pathfinder

This reminds me of flappy bird, but extra hard since you only have a certain number of jumps, which makes it feel impossible. I'm not sure why there would be a limit on the number of jumps, it's like limiting the player to a certain number of paces they can move while also avoiding objects.

edit: Adding an easy mode where jumps aren't limited would make it so much better

Schweem responds:

That's exactly it! Each level has multiple ways it can be cleared using the given number of jumps, as well as opportunities to improve your times across multiple runs. The idea is that it is hard and you will die a lot, but each death is a learning opportunity. I appreciate the feedback, how would you feel about an "easy" mode that has unlimited jumps and checkpoints? That has been on the drawing board for a while.

"R" to restart would be nice. Game is hard AF.

EDIT:
Cool. And an easy mode with checkpoints would be SO appreciated by those of us with completion anxiety.

Schweem responds:

Thanks for checking the game out! I'm working on an update to address some odds and ins, I'll add that in while I'm at it.
