Darkspace Ambush is a thrilling puzzle strategy game set aboard a spaceship in the depths of outer space. Battle an unknown alien species that preys on the riches onboard. With a unique sliding-block mechanic and challenging AI-controlled opponent, you'll need to plan ahead and outsmart the enemy to survive. The game features stunning graphics, immersing you in detailed spaceship environments. Activate your strategic thinking and navigate through a series of challenging levels to overcome the alien threat and emerge victorious.


Due to the Tutorial being too laconic, here is a description of the game elements:


Cell device

  • Use this to capture the enemy and plug the spaceship hull breach.
  • When pushed, this object slides until it hits a wall.
  • Beware that the enemy can push the Cell devices as well!


Computer Terminal

  • The enemy is attracted to computer terminals and will destroy them if reached.
  • The player can push a Terminal in any direction, sliding it to an adjacent tile.
  • When you stay next to a Terminal, the enemy cannot destroy it.


Cryo-Chamber

  • This object is indestructible by the enemy. The enemy cannot push Cryo-chambers.
  • The player can push a Cryo-chamber in any direction, sliding it to an adjacent tile.

I posted a Job Listing and already hired an artist!


This is my submission in Flash Forward game jam 2023!

The original idea came in a Ludum Dare compo long time ago - I had coded a prototype in AS3 and only used vector primitive colored shapes as graphics. Little I knew that in 10 years I'll be translating the game in AS2 as a tribute to the Flash technology!


Notes: the game is still under development.

(latest official update May 1st 2023 - version 0.931).


What is to be expected in the upcoming update:

  1. New graphics
  2. Integration of NG medals
  3. keyboard support
  4. level design revision (all of the current levels were designed back in 2013)
  5. level complete criteria fix
  6. user interface update
  7. bug fixing (sometimes a level can get stuck if you push the enemy too much)
  8. Music / sound revision

This guy's a thief. Using AI for the graphics instead of creating or commissioning their own, they're actively choosing to steal from artists

Here is yet another guy that's super proficient in terms of AI image generators used in unfinished non-commercial game jam entries! You must be a guru at spotting AI-generated graphics! I bet you can tell the difference between a real and a fake image in a blink of an eye. I'm really impressed by your expertise and I would love to learn from you! So how did you crack this case? I doubt you compared every single image on the web in order to tell from whom exactly the "art" was stolen from.. I know that magic wands don't exist, so you probably used some fancy software or algorythm to determine that. Please enlighten us, oh genius of plagiarism detection, oh great detective of digital art!
