Graphically and thematically you nailed it, especially if the homage is to early NG in particular. Going through much of the games released in 2000 and 2002, it's hard not to feel like the "homage" was an excuse for a game that doesn't really work. Yes, early flash was rough. But many of the games at least functioned properly.

This was garbage, though has a cool loading screen
