Controls:

Select (Back To Title) - Right Shift Key (Must be paused)
I hope you enjoy this little game, Despite its short development
time a lot of love was put into it with the main character Erik
being something I've been concepting for years now.

Watch out Mario! Looks like you got competition!
Not bad. Visuals are cute and the sound design is appropriate. I think I ended up getting about 5 levels in before I gave up because of the sluggish controls. When you have the run button held down, your character doesn't always go fast, mainly 1) when they are changing directions in midair or 2) jumping and THEN pressing a movement key. Makes it very frustrating to cross large gaps. I probably would have been willing to continue past where I gave up if there wasn't a lives system that forced me to start at the very beginning.

Man, do I love this game:
Each sprite is just 4 colors (including transparency), that lines up with the NES limitation perfectly!
Music? Simple but catchy, true to 8 bit (I know you didn't make it but it's still good).
And it's just plain fun. Would give it a higher score if I could
