Wow its been a bit since I have caught up with your work but have to say in this film they look really good and fresh very refined characters, the film itself is notbad a bit short but im mezmerized with these characters so nice work

~X~

I'll see her boobs, but at what cost?

It always cracked me up when a seemingly cutesy cartoon takes a sudden dark comedic turn to it! XD

I didn’t have time write a review when you posted this I hope that you still read it. Whoof, there’s abunch to unpack here. Usually when there’s a sentient eat sentient trope being used I post a rant about how edgy plus whimsy equals cringe because in this situation you put in actual substance so that there’s actual humor. Anyway what this also reminds of is your earlier cartoon apparently lobsters are sentient but considered food, not to mention that both Pike and Frilligan interact with surface society but are considered capturable specimens, not to mention Sammy’s reaction to “sea monsters” despite living in a world where the population is full of various shapes and sizes. So are there no cops in this world or is it just surreal and we aren’t supposed to question it? Like can Brooke go to prison for this or be hunted and killed?
Last three things:
1. I had recently watched your cancelled short about Pike eating algae and and fish asking if it can eat her, I guess that’s that’s just one example of everything being sapient in this world.
2. Having Pike be small and cute for contrast was spot on for the black comedy.
3. This is definitely a harsh reminder of how your work has a happy child friendly feel but sometimes isn’t necessarily that.
Edit: Oh snap I forgot! Was the dark theme made for Halloween?

HorseFolder responds:

I'm not one who cares for continuity. In fact, I don't like treating my work as if there's continuity because I'm always growing and changing as an artist. What may have worked 5 years ago is something I wouldn't do now. I'm also not too concerned with keeping my work always "child appropriate" per se. I just do whatever I think is funny or interesting.

Wish I could Sing my lunch into existence too!
