Happy 420, yo! This game was a lot of fun and a lot of work. I tried to design it to be small and simple, but it still ended up being one of the most complex games I've made (Or finished, at least). So cool to be able to use Flash and have it work in browser again! Not to mention mobile web browsers, which I tried to take advantage of for this game. It was hard to find a difficulty balance between mobile and desktop, and in general (game is hard). Some parts of this had to be rushed, (No Sound) but overall I'm still pretty proud of it. It's my first real finished game project with art from my Significant Other, and I think she knocked it out of the park (Or maybe 'Aced It' is more apt because Tennis). Here's hoping there are more projects to come, we certainly have plenty of ideas brewing.

Yeah I'm not sure how this is supposed to work. Part of good game design is building intuitive game controls.

Even in the tutorial it is unclear how to progress. It says to click a spot, which that works. It then says click and hold to choose the angle, okay. But then when you release the mouse button, nothing happens. Or if you click madly, nothing happens. And I think one time I hit the ball but I have no idea how. And *this* is what is wrong with this game.

It should not be this hard to figure out how to hit a tennis ball.

Incredibly awkward to control, needs an unfair level of precision to hit a return ball, as the window for hitting the ball is incredibly small timing wise and hit range wise
I really appreciate the idea, but it's way too user unfriendly, you said it's hard in the game description but it feels like you're battling the mechanics of the game rather than the opponent; which IMO puts it on the un-fun side of difficult

VicBiss responds:

Your points are correct. But I would recommend putting a few points in your reach and speed stats to help returning the ball. I spent more time developing the engine than I did tweaking and testing, and that's on me. Thanks for playing!

There's a very steep learning curve to this game, but once you get going, it is challenging and somewhat enjoyable. Everything works well, and the character models are very well designed.

VicBiss responds:

Very cool to see that someone actually beat it! We appreciate you putting the time in. The steep learning curve is one of the hardest things to iron out in game design. (For me, anyways) When testing the game myself, obviously I get better at it than someone playing it for the first time, so it's hard to judge the learning curve. In the end, the reason I'm making games right now is for myself, so I am a little stubborn about leaving it difficult enough that it is still fun for me when testing it, and replaying it. I'm trying to be better about this for future projects, especially ones I would want to release commercially, but this was a smaller game, and I didn't really put in the time needed for proper testing and balancing. Thanks again for playing! As of now you are the only person in the world to beat it besides me (:<

?? what gameplay very wrong
