First attempt went 80 gens and seemed to be selecting for suicide at several points.
Restarted, and I've been on gen 1 for five minutes, watching one, and only one, flawlessly perform the game.
%90 placeholder assets, %10 percent crappy AI algorithm, %100 awesome.
This is a small foray into AI, where I built a NEAT algorithm to learn flappy bird. I know, it's never been done before and I'm amazing.
Spacebar to force a new generation, R to restart, W to speed up, and S to slow down.
The blue bird is the best from last generation, and the green is second best. On default speed, it should take 5-10 generations for them to perfect their flying, but sometimes it takes 30, and sometimes it figures it out on it's first try.

idk if my AI is dumb but it's taking way more than 30 generations to figure it out...
this is dope, great job!
Really good ai, my only problem is the placeholder assets... but it does what it was supposed to do!
I think something that needs to be worked on next is the AI taking into account the random generation of the pillars, other than that, I think this is cool!
P.S. On my first run of this, the AI was still failing on the first one after 23 generations with a decent run around the tenth, on my second run after your reply, it perfected its flying after 21 generations.
It should be taking that into account, I think the algorithm takes longer to figure things out than I anticipated.
