DIRECTORS COMMENTARY

This is the big escape from Monster Island scene it’s got fantastic stunts in it I was going to have Jim pick up the Jet Ski at one point but then I looked at how much jet ski’s weigh and I was like he can never lift that much weight! So I just put it in a river if you look closely at the Jet Ski during the jump at the waterfall you can see Jim’s stunt double who was a guy named Ricardo that I met one day just outside of a gas station he was enjoying a slushy and eating a sandwich the two of us got to talking and I told him that he looked exactly like Jim and I asked him if he wanted to be in the movie and he said yes! The Jet Ski jump scene took 376 takes and Ricardo broke 97 bones but we finally got the footage! Ricardo is actually seen in another part of this scene the part where Jim jumps off the Jet Ski into the water sadly due to Ricardo’s severe injuries from the previous stunt he was actually killed while filming the stunt luckily we got the footage we needed on the first try! I wanted to include more guts falling out of the sky during the part where the Kraken explodes but the studio wouldn’t pay for it I’ll probably ad it into the Directors cut DVD version when it comes out though. The scuba diver wasn’t actually hired by the studio he just happened to be there while we were filming it’s such a shame that he was tragically eaten by that shark though.
