There's time travel involved in the story. Everything is connected.
Don't leave your focus away from the story, else you wouldn't understand what's going on.
Do play the full game and don't miss the ending. It's amazing.

There is a time loop going on in this game. Blue cube is the future and Pink cube is the present. The comic-stories till the Revelation Episode goes first and then comes the gameplay. After gameplay the last comic story takes place.
Did you get the plot of the game?
FYI, the game barely functions in Chrome, but works fine in FF. And you're scrolling right faster than you can see what's coming. Many restarts = non-satisfying play.
Controls aren't comfortable at all: K for attack and space to jump don't work well with movement keys. Arrows or ASWD for movement and jump plus space to slice makes much more sense.
