Probably deserves more than 2 1/2 stars, but this really isn't my sort of game.
I'm sure there are people new to platform games that are not yet burnt out on them.
I thought that the graphics were decent, game play was smooth as far as I went.
The wall jump was an interesting idea, but I've seen that in a few of them already.
Some even let you cling to the wall if you jump up and keep pressing to the side.
The scroll wheel to select different schools for the attack was unusual, and welcome.
I was expecting the wheel to turn as I selected different schools, but I guess it was just to show how full each type of attack is. Overall: easy to pick up what's going on and use it.
The different schools had definite differences, which was also nice, but I didn't get far enough to see a need for the various styles.
The only bug I ran into was that the thing I was supposed to catch with the grappling hook didn't hold on, so I had to run after it and get back up to it to exit.
Jumping over objects seemed a bit wonky. If I pressed to go right, then hit jump, it would continue right until I hit an object before jumping. I would have liked to jump while running, and moving sideways after I'm in the air "feels wrong", but then again: I'm a magic user, so...
Firing down did not help me to jump higher, but I'm able to jump in mid air in the classic "Mario" double jump.
Biggest draw back for me really was that it was "yet another platform game" and I wish people would stop trying to make them, but this seemed like one of the better ones.
