With a little help from an unnamed mathematician as the first entry in the one game a week for a year challange, look up more on my stream or discord :^)

Time spent to make: 16h

Controls:
Tap WASD to move
You can only move once per song beat
Each time you move you gain points
The more you move higher the point multiplier
If you skip a beat or get hit buy a red triangle you lose combo
Hold or to dash!

Nice simple game, pretty fun too. I was wondering if it'd be possible to add in the arrows keys as movement keys as well. Also I found 2 potential problems. 1; when you dash through the red triangles your score resets most of the time. And 2; Idk if its intentional but if you try to move twice in one beat your character freezes for 1 or 2 beats.

FlareMakesVideoGames responds:

Adding arow keys would be possibile but the idea of the games was to make them in one week so i dont think i will be coming back to this one.
1) yes, the movement is detected on your move and not on the beat when the triangles move and its very unintuitive, it is an issue i was aware of and i do think it brings the game down quite a bit.
2) it is not quite clear that the game locks you out of movement after you make a mistake as there is no indicator, so id say in general the user exp of the game is quite lacking
thanks for playing the game anyway, ill make sure to address these issues in more detail in the future <3

So, while I like the concept, there's one thing I don't understand, how do you avoid red triangles when they cover LITERALLY a complete row that moves towards you?

FlareMakesVideoGames responds:

Hi, thanks for playing the game!
It's not very well explained but the dash ability allowes you to dash through triangles. I'll make sure to make better tutorials in the future.

I've enjoyed this, the track is very catchy and the gameplay's quite interesting as well ^_^
I was a bit confused while playing, because I did not know how to properly play the game, like why my moves were so restricted and how I could dodge spikes which were aligned in a way that you couldn't pass them.
But eventually I figured it out. I'd perhaps add a bit more to the game, like multiple obstacles and levels with different looks/music.
Nevertheless, I'm happy with it :D Keep up the good work!
