Since The Prison was the second short I ever worked on, I wanted to pepper in as many references to it as possible. I didn't want to go off the rails with it by having a full-bodied character like Big Hug Bill stealing the spotlight, so I opted for the face-tattoo'd dude and a few other extras that were featured in the short. Jim Bob from Last Meal is also in the lineup, which puts this short chronologically before it in the C&H universe.

One thing you might immediately notice, the reversed notes on the characters- I had initially composed it moving from right to left, and Mike flipped it in a quick edit. I don't know why I tend to do that, but I like to think I broke that habit.

I had a ton of fun with the smoke lines, and I have NO EARTHLY IDEA why I made her hair so shiny. None at all. Even as I was doing it I don't why I was doing it. I am getting better at drawing lady hairstyles, but this is probably my most shameful. She's like a slicked-up latina in this, but it doesn't look good at all, and I apologize.
