C&H The Fire Whisperer Animatic

Share Collapse

This is owned by Explosm Entertainment, but I drew and animated everything here! This is an animatic, not the final animation, but if you're interested in how it turned out, click here to watch The Fire Whisperer on YouTube!

This one was very fun to work on! I loved the premise, I had a great time looking for cliche tv show sound effects and temp music. I had a lot of fun playing around with the fire graphic and making it hop around like an animal, and Cosmo is absolutely a parody of the Cat Whisperer, Jackson Galaxy.

In a mad-rush dash to meet the deadline for this animatic, I decided not to worry about Liz's character design at all, making her a baldy. There are lots of male baldy's on C&H, so I figured, "Eh, why not a lady?" and over time I fell in love with her look making her all cute with a heart mouth when she says "But I just can't say no to it. "

The wood plank crashing down startling Liz and extinguishing the fire was an ad-lib.

Needless to say in the final animation, they gave her hair, and did an overall great job bringing the whole thing to life. There's a weird fade transition that wasn't in the animatic in between the fire taking over the house and the house burning down, but other than that, the whole thing is great.

Ah, this is great! I should really watch more of these. Loved the concept and the voice acting was great. Great ending too and a very practical solution for a disobedient fire. I think the sound effects were too loud, though, so the voice acting ended up being hard to hear. I think you did a good job with the visuals. While the beard in the final version may be a bit more fitting, I still liked this one a lot and I loved it when he got it half burnt off. And I actually found her baldie design pretty cute, but theirs was a bit more like the people you'd see in these shows.
Great job either way, I see they kept a lot of your things in, and this was very entertaining.
