C&H The Leak Animatic

This is owned by Cyanide & Happiness, but I drew and animated everything here! This is an animatic, not the final animation, but if you're interested in how it turned out, click here to watch The Leak on YouTube!

Ohhh MAN I had fun with this one. I went to Space Camp as a kid and I've always been stoked about NASA and space shuttles and the like, so I went ham on the ship design, wreckage, interior layout, and what-not.

It is a cartoon so it's supposed to be silly- and that's why I initially went with visualizing that the space is leaking in exactly like water like the Captain fears it's behaving. But they opted to go with nothingness, like actual space, which is probably for the better because when you're talking about animating water, that shit's a nightmare.

I had a ton of fun with sound effects...the first of many shorts where I snuck in Gundam sfx as a signature easter egg. I also had a lot of fun with the temp music, sampling Ace Combat and the trailer theme for Interstellar.

I loved the final punchline of the episode, but by far the best part was watching the life preserver fling the guy out into space.

Congrats on the daily first place as well.

HA I love it!!!
