This should be a full-length product. I'd certainly buy it. Excellent work!
It started off as a quick project to shot off my pixel art skills, and ended up growing into something much bigger. Also - pirates!
Move with the arrow keys, jump with up or A, and use D for doors and swords.
Can I also take this opportunity to point you towards another game of mine I recently managed to recover: yogyog.org/leaf/

Thankyou! I'm actually working on a not-really-a-sequel : a commissioned video game and music video for a string quarteet using assets from this game. Also - I would recommend trying my other game https://yogyog.org/leaf/
this game has potential, but there are a few things that just make it not so fun to play, the controls are super loose but you kinda need tight controls for this type of game, the jump button doesnt even work every time i press the button, and on the second level i keep putting a crate on the boat to travel to the right and stack the next ones but it just disappears when it comes right,( no i didnt stack 2 high) could be a good game with some improvement
Hmmm... I've not seen that bug with the crates myself... I'll have a look into it.
Uh. how am I supposed to advance past the screen with what appears to be portraits?
That's the level select screen. Click the portrait on the left.
Poor hit detection. Makes it hard to navigate hit detection
I'm sorry I don't understand.
Very cool, nice story, atmosphere and the physics/movable-elements really brought something +everything worked fine! Through the end felt slightly... blotched? The ghosts were OK, but the fishy enemies felt a bit like filling up. Maybe it might have felt better to fight them back on the island? (eg: The fishy things invaded the island while they were gone?) +I kind of wanted to see them reach home! ^^'
Still it's great job! Keep it up! 5/5
I thought about whether the story should bring them back to the island ... it would be nicely circular. Truth is I had the character from back when I made this: https://yogyog.org/broken-commercials/ and I felt there needed to be some kind of final boss.
