Shifting Dreamscape

Shifting Dreamscape is a game about sleep. It’s a wonderful thing that lets us experience our wildest dreams, but let it get out of hand and those same dreams may shift into horrible nightmares…

This game was created in 72 hours by Cruise Elroy and Mors for the 40th Ludum Dare with the theme “The more you have, the worse it is.”, and it got the 26th place overall. Special thanks to CosmicGem for the music.

The Best Ending (Maybe)

I'm actually pretty fucking pissed you didn't add an option to restart after eternal slumber. I don't want to have to reset my tab and wait for this game to load every time I fail.

dem! o.o

Nice artwork and music, well implemented "dream system".

The nightmares for me start with the controls and wall jumping. The former feels very slippery, you have too much inertia that carries you forward making you miss your jumps. Wall jumping works in such a way that if I press for example left + jump to jump from a wall I simply fall off. It goes against everything I have experienced so far in games with wall jumps.

It feels a bit weird that a single nap takes away just as much from your dream bar as a long sleep.

A lot of levels have platforms that disappear very quickly after you enter the level. That means you have to learn the levels and know what comes next to be able to save dream time. That means you need to play this game several times so a restart button is very much needed on the game over screen. Same goes for a mute button.

The controls - with the exception of jump - are not explained. I walked up to the first guy and pressed down to talk to him...I just ended up wasting dream time. These are all small but important things.

Still, very nicely done especially in light of the 72 hours limit.

Fun concept, but the controls and level design need a bit of polishing.
Would like to see another attempt at this, with more time put into it.
