Controls: use your directional keys to go from top to bottom and from left to right, use the mouse to steer the torch.

"Escape to the Darkness" is a flash game made during a two-month internship as a freelancer. The goal of the game is very simple, escape from the labyrinth!
You have at your disposal a torch that will help you escape from this huge labyrinth.

Great Job, hoping for more!

It's a nice concept, and if you plan to develop it further I have a few suggestions to consider.

First, when the character switches directions to move into a corridor with a width of 1, he often gets "stuck" if he's not perfectly aligned with the new corridor you're trying to move into, and it might run more smoothly if when you change direction the program automatically aligns you with whichever row or column you're primarily within.

Second, I agree with JeffreyDriver that it seems like it could use some sort of threat (or various different kinds of threats) that are out to kill you. And if you do modify the game to go with that approach, I would suggest making some sort of signal showing where the player and the exit are from the very beginning (like concentric circles emanating from their positions or something) so players can be reasonably expected to start moving quickly to get away from a minotaur or whatever instead of having to search around with the torch for a while to even see where they are.

Kabalitox responds:

Indeed, there are some small problems of collisions that I have already taken into account and that I would try to solve.
And I totally agree with you and JeffreyDriver, it is possible later to add enemies and sonar sonar system is very interesting, I would look into the question, thank you!

I am greatly confused lmfao. I sat at my computer for possibly 15 minutes with nothing occurring. As the description guides, I did play around with the mouse and arrow keys with nothing coming out of it accept a moving sphere with a slightly cute pixelated torch in the center which flicks around. There is no character and clearly no motive as it really is just a torch and a darkening sphere, as well as atmospheric music. Is this a glitch or something? I've already refreshed to see if it was and nothing had happened.

Kabalitox responds:

There is a character, I think it comes from your browser or your computer, I'm sorry for the inconvenience

The carector is way too slow,

and please make the controls WASD compatible

Kabalitox responds:

I understand perfectly your feelings, at the beginning the character is supposed to be rather quick to chained the levels easily and quickly, out on Newground my game is slow what I do not understand

I was expecting there to be some sort of threat, or some sort of other mechanic involved. Also, I don't know how many levels there are. I did quite a few but gave up as I had no idea how I was progressing. I didn't know if I was 1 or 100 levels away from the end, or even if levels were just being continually generated. It could also really do with a snap-to-grid behaviour as you sometimes get stuck when trying to enter passageways.

The game is well-made though. The controls are smooth and responsive (when you don't get stuck), and the graphics are fine. The music is good and suits it really well.

Kabalitox responds:

I take note of the advice and this very constructive comment for me !
