Based on the old stories when I was in Germany a few times last year. Those rare moments of German soliders during world war 2 disobeying orders to do something unexpected. This was one of them.

I was a bit skeptic about this since th word "Nazi's" in today media tends to starts drama. Even if it based on actual events. There has been stories like Schinder, Franz Stigler, and other Nazi / German soldiers saving lives that gets ignored.

But after confirming it with my close German friends. They approved of it and I went ahead.

Again, Im in no way trying to promote Nazism or excuse their horrific acts upon human lives. This is just one of the rare stories of those risking their lives to save to do the right thing.

Nice movie. Finally a movie, that represents us germans as humans and not as monsters, demons, etc. My great-grandfather was in Poland in 1939,when the invasion had started. My father told me,so what my great-grandfather told him(my father):,,That was my first shoot at a human and it was terrible, then he came to France, where he lead a War-prison in france.2 french soldiers tried to escape, where they tried,to get through big pipe, which lead to a nearby pond, but my great-grandfather already knew that. They await the soldiers at the end of the pipe.First they washed them and they brought them back to the War-prison.He could have shot, but he didn`t,he didn`t want to kill innocent soldiers.
Greetings from Germany.

Wholesome

where is the medals for this men!?

Well deserved victory for you.

I would've liked to hear a few more tales like these! Well done bringing light to another side of the story, and in such a matter-of-fact way too. Simple, uncompromising and not glorified at all, but uplifting nevertheless. The complexity of conflicts between countries, and soldiers, and people, all the most relevant within the World Wars... it doesn't get brought up enough. Movies all depict things in black and white, the armies synonymous with the ideals of their leaders, but it's little glimpses of individuality like this I'd really like to see more of! Great work with the build-up and story-telling too. Fantastic work.

And all this for the Jam, too! The basement had space for more than I expected.
