The previous game was worse than this, but this is not much better.
I appreciate not having to navigate through screen after screen, but then you have a fixed maze, and in this version, a player faces random battles. I loathe random battles, because at that point, it is more of a fighting game.
The dialog in the original wasn't translated at all, so I was guessing what I was doing. However, with this one, it is very raw and rough.
The menu is difficult to navigate, and nowhere do you tell people they have to hit X to access the menu during the game. What's more, one can not use an item like a potion between battles. You have to use battle time to use it. And I found armor, but could not equip it.
So the items can not be used, the design is just sprites on a background, and the menus are difficult to navigate. These are the first areas I would suggest trying to improve.
I'm not trying to dump on you. This is just not what I was expecting. You have done okay, but there is room for improvement, and that should be the takeaway from this spiel.
