Created in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 42.
AsterVoid is an Asteroids-style game with a twist: each destroyed asteroid leaves behind a "void" in space that you can't fly through. Dodge the asteroids and the ever-growing void, and try and rack up a high-score!

This game is not my favorite. I don't think that games on the Pico engine aren't even that good. These graphics are crummy, the gameplay is dull, the mechanics are wack, and there's really nothing to do other than to get a high score. No achieves or anything. I know this game is supposed to be challenging, but its hard to play a game where the controls, movement and aim is hard enough. Its really hard to slow down, or stay in one place. The only redeeming quality of this game is that it's at least a clone of Asteroids and isn't complete garbage.
I really like the concept but Asteroids was probably the worst game to apply the new mechanic to. moving is so cumbersome in this game that most people are stationary the whole time ... at least I am. I'm legit gonna snag this idea and apply it to another type of game. I'll credit you, and all
Not gonna lie, I stay stationary most of the time as well, because I end up flying straight into an asteroid in five seconds. I think that's the one major thing missing from the game: an enemy like the flying saucer from the original, that shoots at you and forces you to move. Might have to think about whether that's worth implementing after the voting period is over.
I'm interested to see what you come up with!
Finally... you did something on your main page that wasn't Madness. Oh well. Madness Scene Creator 6 should be great.
Pretty good, depending on how you look at this, either the aiming is imprecise or the graphics and gameplay are set up like this on purpose so I can't really tell. A fun little game.
It's not that the aiming is imprecise, it's that there's only so many rotation sprites, so you're not always pointing in the exact direction you're facing in. It's probably something I should look into for a post-Jam update. Glad you enjoyed it, though!
