I started this PUBG themed Fist of the North Star parody that was about 50% complete before I decided to scrap it.
I mostly did it so I could move onto other projects, but a few other factors helped me decide as well.
It was taking me far too long to finish it, PUBG was beginning to decline in popularity due to Fortnite, and Miramar was not well received by many. PUBG's new map Sanhok was also just released.
All of these things happened between my inital start date in February 2018 and now, and I just wanted to share what I worked on before I left it behind.
That being said, I'm super proud of what I achieved. I think I nailed the film-grained wobbly camera effect to simulate an 80s anime, especially during the shot with the logo.
I recorded tons of footage of my brother in-game as rotoscope reference. Screenshots from the game were put into Adobe Illustrator and image traced to make the backgrounds appear like they were painted, and then were color corrected in Photoshop using examples from frames of Fist of the North Star.
