There is a current epidemic of scammers, they will pretend to work for a legitimate tech support company, and cold call victims at random saying, "You have a virus, let me connect to your computer to fix it." Some of their victims are infected with a virus first, that then displays the scammer phone number to have it "fixed," either way the victim is unnecessarily charged hundreds of dollars, and their computer is backdoored for future extortion.
