All you have to do is hold down the Z button the whole time...
Lick the Sky is a relaxing arcade climber about a lizard who stared up into the sky and wanted to lick the stars.
Press Z to lick.
Tips:
Stay inside the screen border for a longer run!
Big jumps = higher scores!
Hang onto a shooting star for bonus points!
Don't get too hung up on scores or stress. Put on some music, relax, and Lick the Sky!
All you have to do is hold down the Z button the whole time...
Thanks for the feedback, R-o!
Points are based on your airtime and time latched to shooting stars. So yes, you can technically hold the Z button the whole time, but you won't get any points!
Thanks for playing! :)
It's a little clumsy control-wise. Otherwise, kind of addicting.
Thanks for the feedback, KrystalZoness! I'm glad that you found it addicting! :P
As for the controls, translating how a one-button control scheme converts the player's intention to accurate results is a tricky situation. There's a fine line to walk when it comes to how accurate the hook-mechanic should be. Currently the line attaches to the nearest star when you press [z], but should it perhaps take into consideration your current trajectory or speed? Which star does each player expect to attach to when they press [z], and do multiple players expect the same result? Lots of things to consider. Either way, thanks so much for playing! :)
It's ok, but a little difficult, and there is a slight delay when the lizard lets go of the star
Thanks for playing, hazardoussnowman!
You're right that it takes a little practice to get used to the physics. Adding an easy mode with forgiving limits and lighter physics would be fairly simple, and might give first-time players more of a chance to familiarize themselves with the gameplay. I'll remember that for my next arcade-style game. Thanks for the feedback! :)
it's nice I don't really get the time limit though. i just think it should be until you fall. Unless there's a mechanic I don't really know about.
Thanks for playing, TheShadigi!
I didn't want to punish players for falling, as I've been wanting to make a game that my nieces could play without struggling with the mechanics. There isn't a strict time limit; the screen boundaries only shrink if you're outside the bounds. If you stay in-bounds, you can technically climb forever!
I really appreciate the feedback, and I'll remember to make the rules a little clearer in my next game!
