This is the second installment of the Chosen. I was experimenting to see how much animation I could finish in a week, with the result being a 6 part series. It was equal parts experiment and hands-on learning. There's a bit of a learning curve (the speech animations improve, I swear).
Installments 2 and 3 were my 'cheat' weeks- they're primarily parallax animation. Part of my motivation for the cheat weeks were to explore the technique, but the main reason was to compensate for animating other sequences that had taken more time than I wanted.
Still, the end result was more effective than I'd hoped. My pleasant surprise is part of why I went ahead with starting Troll Quest, the other series that I'm uploading on Newgrounds right now.
The sound that the speech bubbles make, dudududdududududu, is really grating on the ears. Soften it, change it, remove it, pick something. It lowered my appreciation of the video. I was in fact enjoying the rationale of the world and the world building, but the constant sound kept me from getting immersed.
