Humanity began in the wilds. Eventually we got away from all that because it's itchy and a lot of bugs tend to hover just in front of humanity's face where bugs are most annoying. Children on the path of combat are made soft by civilization, and any good training regiment demands getting lost in the woods with no supervision!
Man Gus is annoying but he helped out I guess. Garret is dead. Oh well.
