The Gay Adventures of Plato

Share Collapse

Plato and his sidekick Aristotle are kicking anus and taking names (and parking spaces) in the far-out city of Philisopolis. That camp devil, Pythagoras is up to his old tricks again. Will the crockery-riding duo save the day or will the Numbers Man get away as he usually does? Probably the latter.

Written, voiced and animated by Sebastian Ratcliffe.

I really like the idea and where this could go. The animation and art is decent enough. I really enjoyed watching the animation.

I might suggest that if one of your character's is falling to their death, that they yell out, "Zeno's Paradox!" And they will suddenly stop falling.

Arrow paradox[edit]

1 of Zeno's paradoxes: The Arrow
If everything when it occupies an equal space is at rest, and if that which is in locomotion is always occupying such a space at any moment, the flying arrow is therefore motionless.

When Pythagoras said, "I would rather die a thousand deaths than go back to the cage." I think a better line would have been to replace 'cage' with 'cave', a reference to the Plato's Allegory of the Cave.

This is a web comic I love to read that mixes philosophical arguments into everyday affairs and absurdity. Perhaps it can give you inspiration.

List of Paradoxes are a good source material for philosophical phun.

Since this has 3 stars at the moment-- I voted 5 on the left box to try and balance it out. This hits that 1990's pun bone and tingles the haha in my spine. Keep up the good work :D

Very silly and consistent with its theme, but it was slow-loading. It took a few minutes just to load seconds.

DrJono responds:

Thanks! In regards to the slow loading, I intended to use an avi instead of wmv, but it slipped my mind. Alas, earwax!

Excellent Intro, Dude. You should make cartoons for Adult Swim! Using Ancient Philosophers for heroes is pretty clever. Can't wait to see more! Kinda Trippy.....

DrJono responds:

Yo! Thanks for the kind words; I fully intend to make more, possibly throwing Freud and friends into the mix. Watch this space!
