Little Red Robot Hunter

Share Collapse

When chased through the woods by a giant robot wolf, it is advisable to seek out a suitable weapon such as a magnetic field generator. Or, failing that, a magical fairytale axe.

'Little Red Robot Hunter' was my graduation film from college. As we were being graded mostly on animation and shot composition, I decided to create something highly visual in the style of a pure chase sequence or stylised movie trailer, rather than a traditional narrative.

Apparently it was a good choice, as it went on to win 'Most Outstanding 2D Project' at my college's industry night, as well as making it into two international film festivals.

But beyond all that, I can now die happy knowing I've successfully made a film involving a giant robot wolf.

That's all I ever really wanted out of life.

I cannot stress enough how unique this piece is - I know the whole 'Little Red Riding Hood' theme tends to be very overdone in terms of parodies, spin-offs and what have you, but the quality of this animation relies much more on telling its own story, rather than leaning too much on references from the original tale. I admit I first viewed this expecting it to be another decidedly average and unimaginative parody, and I am very glad to be proven wrong.

Hahaha! Axe and you will receive! 5 stars for puns!

But seriously though, the concept reminds me of Cashern Sins, the anime, but with a "modern fairy-tale" twist. It's aesthetic in that sense.

Super cool concept! Hope there's a follow up!

very good but make a part two no make a series! its so good keep it up

Ah! Come on! Don't leave me like this! I don't even know what the whole thing is about! Still awesome :D
