Gezi Park

Share Collapse

Between May and June 2013 we experienced tragic and sorrowful days in Turkey. This was a very special period, because that entire noisy quarrel started with the idea of protecting the Gezi Park and its trees in Taksim, Istanbul, from being cut.

All the troubles started with this innocent touch. At the end, millions of people were shouting on the streets, and the picture has been changed.

Police violence has been started! Everything became serious. At that moment the main media organs were in silence and showing classic daily programs on TV.

While the demonstrations were largely peaceful, police used extensive means of violence to suppress the activists. Eleven dead and more than 8,000 people were injured as a result of tear gas, water cannons and general police violence meted out to protesters during those weeks.

The protests had no centralized leadership beyond the small organization of activists who sparked the original environmental protest, which widely became known as Occupy Gezi because of its resemblance to the Occupy movement that swept America, and much of the world, the previous autumn.

Well my friend, I understand the way you feel, fighting for what is important to us.

Over the years stuff like this has happened, while most of the time people turns a deaf ear to the screams and cries of human suffering.
I'm glad you decided to make a tribute to the events of the Gezi Park, I wasn't aware of what happened, but now I am thanks to your work and effort, and more people will be.

Even if the animation is not as "usual" as what's uploaded in this site, still works fine along with its intentions; and the music also fits good.

It's in conditions or in ways like these that we become aware of what happens around us, we get to know each other, to care for each other, and to give any kind of help to every human being possible.

My friend, I give a bow to your work and to the effort, tears, pain and will of all the people depicted in it. You have my respect.

I had been a way quite long time.
And I just read what you wrote about my work.
I felt so glad to hear this.
Thank you very much dear friend.
