Created originally as a tutorial for the 'How to Cheat in Flash CC' book by Chris Georgenes, Ninja CC is a fun and quick game with two modes. 'Book mode' is the exact Ninja sword slashing game that you can create yourself following the tutorial in the book. 'Bunny mode' adds some adorable but explosive bunnies into the mix along with online highscores.


In each mode you have 99 seconds to take out as many enemy Ninjas as you can, getting bonus combo points for attacking multiple Ninjas at once.


Armed with cute but deadly explosive bunnies, see how much damage you can cause in 'Bunny mode' and make a name for yourself on the high scores. Be warned though, those bunnies aren't picky as to who they will explode on!

If you line up the rabbits you can group the Ninjas and then slash them to bits for combo points. Very fun.

This is pretty cool, basic and yet fun to play. I hope i can beat some scores on my own.
Have any other games to play, and how did you make this?

The game is made using Adobe Flash CC and there is a step by step tutorial on how the 'Book Version' (the core game itself with the audio, 3D nature and Ninjas, but without the menu, highscore table and bunnies) in Chris Georgenes new book, 'How to Cheat in Flash CC' available on amazon.

Really love the art, it's a good beginning to combat. How about some health grabs and a block function. Instructions would be very helpful as well as a story line. Love the depth perception that is created in the movement of the character. At this time you have a 3 minute entertaining button masher at best, 1&1/2 star for effort.. xD

The game itself was created to be broken down step by step for a tutorial for a friends book. Sadly this meant that it couldn't be overly complicated other wise the tutorial would be huge! :) Hopefully there will be a Ninja CC2 though with lots more depth and a story line :)

In terms of instructions, there is a little animation on the title screen that shows the controls. Do you think this needs more work, or perhaps isn't obvious enough?

I don't think I've ever seen a game with this kind of concept, and it's actually really cool. For any players reading, it's basically an arcade-style game in which you must kill as many ninjas as possible. It's not particularly deep; there's only one attack, there's a jump that only seems really useful in finding your character in a horde, and there's a "bunny" button in bunny mode which is way more useful than it sounds, but I won't tell you why because trust me you want to be surprised.

The gameplay is very solid. This faux 3D effect is something I haven't seen in many games, or at least haven't seen executed as well; rather than moving up and down in two dimensions, the ninja moves into the screen. It makes the game interesting, because you can get around enemies without losing the 2D fighter feel, but it's problematic because 2D sprites in a 3D plane often make it difficult to tell where you are in relation to the target you're trying to swipe at. This is mostly compensated for by the fact that your ninja and the enemy ninjas are the same height, so you can use that to eyeball your position. That was a nice way to make up for the lack of depth perception, so well-done on that front.

The combat is very effective. Like I said, there's really only one attack (two if you count the bunny button), but that make the challenge all the more satisfying, because a high score is meaningless unless the player has limitations to overcome. There's something appealing about being able to essentially run around swinging a sword and get a high score, and it means that the game is accessible, if a bit casual. Still, you'll be challenged to get very high on the high score queue with that time limit, so good luck.

The graphics and sound effects create a cartoony atmosphere which I think is very effective for this game. Not one for depth, this is a game in which you slash ninjas, and they know it just as well as you do. The music is unintrusive and fills the background nicely without getting too old over time. The sound effects are again unintrusive and give the player a good indication outside of graphics when they're hitting the right button or making contact with an opponent, and in the flurry of red ninja outfits it's often the only way to know that you've killed something. All told, it comes together well.

I am going to deduct points, though, because literally every time the player goes to the main menu a big popup comes up and you have to wait a few seconds to get rid of it. This is an increasingly common problem in modern flash games which should be considered a mortal sin of game design, because we'll see the link to your website just fine if it's in a banner at the bottom of the screen, and putting it in our way just makes us resent you. In fact, in my case at least, I'd say that you're less likely to get a click if the advertisement is interfering with my ability to play.

I feel like I should mention a minor bug that I found in which I finished a mission on "Book mode" (which is basically bunny mode without the bunny button) and found that neither the menu button nor the play again button would work. I don't know what caused that and I haven't been able to reproduce it, so sorry if this isn't helpful. It's just something that sort of happened. I had to refresh the webpage to get it working again.

For an original concept executed well, but which suffers from advertisements, 8 out of 10.

Sadly the adverts are the primary way I can hope to make any income from the game, however I agree with you that the ones after you complete the game are excessive so for now have removed them completely :)
