This would be a good game to play when your bored, which isn't a bad thing at all, in fact I like this game. I think the only way you could have made it better is if you had higher difficulties, and medals.
Thanks for playing!
The music is just spectacular. When I lose, I actually feel some sense of danger, and when I win, I feel a sense of safety.
I imagine the game works by grabbing images off of some website, and the game generates what the word is based on what the image is tagged with on that website. While that's great for longevity, I think you'd be better off just grabbing about 100 pictures, and manually assigning keywords to them. It would be especially effective if they were somewhat creepy (like the burning wooden man, a run-down playground, a mummified corpse, etc). I would honestly give this at least a 4, if not a 5, if the keywords matched the images, and if you played up this spooky theme.
Until then, I'm sorry, but the game is just broken in this state. Great idea, and I hope the game is improved upon. 1 star for the fact that I can't stop playing simply because of the spooky atmosphere.
On a personal note, I'd be willing to even find images for you on my own, if you wanted. xD
Yeah, the more I think about it, using pre-selected CC-licensed images would be the way to go. It's a real shame because I had wanted to use the internet to keep images new/fresh, but the accuracy of the uploader's tagging it is leaving more and more to be desired.
The game currently uses a wrapper around flickr and photobucket APIs to query SFW images.
Thanks for the detailed feedback and glad you dug the weird loops I created for the music. :)
some image doesn't match the keyword
i got toycar image, and the keyword is golf
Yeah, I can't control what the photo was tagged as. I bet the toy car was a VW Golf.
So a field of flowers is a blanket and a green guy running is a watch? Also, the image of a tank should be better as it starts as a grey screen and by the time it's almost done is when you can tell what it is.
This is just a simple and silly little game that fetches random images by keywords from flickr and photobucket. I don't know anything more about the images' context than you do. Sometimes they take awhile to figure out, sometimes they are obvious. In about 10% of cases their is an odd keyword on the image that only the original photo uploader knows why. :)
i got bed and it was a dudes leg. WTH?
The world is a strange place...
