I don't think people understand how good this animation short really is. It's a great animation showcasing the principle of anticipation, it being one of the 12 basic principles of animation, with great execution. However, I do see where they're coming from when they say that the animation is lacking, but that doesn't make it a bad short. It's really just a well-done basic animation.

Keep in mind, I'm not trying to be mean, I'm only trying to help: It was pretty boring and simple. Now, the basic rule for making videos (animations especially) is that you don't need to be overly complicated or convoluted to make a good one. But I think that you might have taken it a bit too far. Audiences don't need a whole song and dance number to be entertained, but for those who don't get the reference, this is really like watching almost nothing. The end is surprising, but I think most people won't get it.
