This is a pretty excellent game. It's frantic and very fun.
The presentation, for starters, is great. There's a lot of variety in music, sprites and environments, all really well made. The pixellated sceneries you run through in this game go from forests, to cloud kingdoms, to dungeons, to caves and even volcanoes. Everything looks extremely cool, and the music is top notch.
In this game, you control a hero that is constantly running to the right, and you need to press up and down to determine which of three lanes the hero is going to run on, in order to avoid traps, collect items and pick which battles to engage in. Knowing when to engage in combat is fundamental, as every battle rewards you with EXP but also damages your character. Sometimes it's a good idea to pick a hard fight, even when you are low on HP, because everytime you level up you gain a free full heal.
As the game progresses, new types of obstacles and enemies arise, like enemies that run towards you, enemies that shoot, and other things like that. As the game starts picking up pace, it becomes a frantic and super enjoyable gauntlet of stuff to do.
If I were to make a complaint, it's that the game doesn't seem very well balanced. I died a few times in the beginning levels, but after buying some upgrades, I basically never died until the volcano level. After that, I was basically stuck for good.
Still, a really fun game. My evil side thinks it'd be a great mobile game, that you could then fill with microtransactions and Skinner box mechanics... but that'd be evil, so don't mind me.
