The gameplay on this is the main reason for the low score. I died landing on what seemed to be perfectly normal platforms, and it wasn't even consistent on that, so it was difficult to even plan out a strategy. The character moves slowly and the running mechanic is frustrating; if it was meant to be crucial to winning the game, I didn't see it. If it wasn't, then why even include it? Having the character move slowly while also having such slippery platforms could have been an interesting challenge, but along with all the other issues it was just irritating. I also had no idea which way I should be going or if I should be finding stuff in a certain order, which is normally a small concern, but here it's the straw that broke the camel's back.
I really did try to give this game a fair chance, but it didn't seem worth it. I'll often stick with even more poorly made games if it's got a captivating story, but I didn't see that here. The whole "ordinary boy must go through trials to win extraordinary girl" story is cliche, and a real pet peeve for me, I admit.
The graphics were cute, and the music was nice and soothing, and they're the reason I decided to actually bother writing a review. I felt bad giving up on such a pretty game, I wanted to see more of your designs, and I feel like there /is/ potential here for a good game. Keep up the nice audio and visuals, but maybe seek out help with writing and programming.
