I submitted this for my midterm project for my color class yesterday. They loved it. I was allowed to use any medium I wanted as long as it depicted the interaction of a predetermined color scheme (in my case a tetrad of red, green, blue-violet and yellow-orange). I wanted to create a simple story that could be told in a short time frame with no dialogue. I suppose it took around 20 hours over the course of one week so I'm a little sleep deprived. Let me know if it was worth it.

Well shucks, guys. After frequenting this site for the past 11 years I've finally made the top 5. I want to thank everyone for the unanimously supportive feedback and for voting. Granted the cartoon I only had a week to work on makes Daily 4th place. Maybe I'm trying too hard. Anyway stay tuned. I have some projects already planned and/or in progress and I plan on getting that elusive Daily 1st. Just you wait.

Now featured on the front page? You guys are spoiling me. I'm stuck indoors because of the hurricane so I'll try to repay the favor by putting a dent in my next project.

I love these minimal styles. Nice music.

BlackCaliber responds:

Good to hear! I think I'm going to use a more minimalist style in the future.

i mainly like the music best but it was entertaining and i enjoyed watching it very much good job XD

BlackCaliber responds:

Everyone loves the song (and rightfully so)! I appreciate the kudos, guy.

The art here is simple, but serves its purpose and I get the style you were going for, I do. Though in my opinion, some of the quality of the art really varied - it's most noticeable in the beginning, it looked very simplistic and a bit gritty. The animation is very good and very fluid, I really liked it. Sometimes the movements felt odd, though, mostly with the motion-tweened parts. It's a minor complaint though, and it can easily be fixed by easing your tweens (I would suggest 100-out to 0 or 100-out to 100-in.)

I liked how well the animation complemented the song; I think that's definitely something worth noting. The style complements the song very well. There isn't much to say about the song itself, but I did enjoy it and I felt like it was a good song choice.

BlackCaliber responds:

Thanks for the advice! I did ease most of the tweens but I'll keep that in mind in the future. I think the animation could be more fluid in parts. I know that the bar maid in the intro could have used a touch up as well. Glad the song worked. I had it in mind while I was still doing the story boards.

OMGOMG have watched it like 10 times now, so awesome, love music and awesome short story, but a word of advice from a guy who suckes at animation... introduce a whip sound to the story ;)

BlackCaliber responds:

Wow I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! I was thinking about adding sounds but time didn't allow it. Thanks you very much, sir!

What is "Black Void"? A group? What kind?

BlackCaliber responds:

It's just a production name I've used for all of my animations. It's kind of silly since I'm the only person involved but oh well.
