Don't play this game if you're using a laptop and don't have a keyboard.
Actually a tough game! I think some music would've really helped with the environment. Cool graphics and option to customize your character's awesome.
I think the idea is very solid and that the 8-bit style works very well here. However, these kind of "one-button" games put me off due to the wear on my keyboard that they encourage. I like the variety of events to choose from, however.

gfx - 8 (8-bit style works well here)
sfx - 0 (no sound?!)
design - 7 (somewhat excessive difficulty options)
gameplay - 5 (too much of a keyboard buster)
overall, I think this is a good enough game that could have relied on different controls in a way that wouldn't put my hardware at risk.
