Controlling is really bad. Guy started walking off the ship the first round and couldn't interact with people half the time unless you were directly in front of them. Ruined an otherwise fun game.
I really think this game could be better,I think the player should be able to apply the points they earn themselves, also make it to where you don't have to log in to use the equitment you earn, other than that I liked the game.
Okay.
I have read a fair amount of criticism on here about this game. I just completed it and solved every quest, so I feel like I am qualified to judge. First, I am not a Christian (as most would define it), but I was not put off by the inclusion of Christian references. The game does not require you to believe nor does it require any bible knowledge to play. I was not made to recite John 3:16 or any hail Marys to complete any quests. Can we please put aside our bigotry for a moment and judge the game on its merits?
The gameplay was a tad "lunky", the battle controls (eg. assigning actions to the bar, and needing to re-assign them after a "restore") were unintelligent and the graphics are not top end. I would have liked to see all of the awesome gear I worked so hard to find reflected on my avatar. I did not like the fact that once I unlocked a door and made a wrong choice in the labyrinth I had to spend another couple of lock picks to open the infernal thing. There. Those are my complaints.
All of that aside, I grew up on "adventure games" written for Apple IIc, Atari 5200, TRS-80 and Commodore 64. I enjoyed them very much and spent many hours trying to unravel the clues and figure out what to do next. They were graphically inferior, lunky games. Amirand is a game of the same ilk as the aforementioned genre only much better quality. nPerhaps all of the butthurt being exhibited on this forum is coming from people who want their gameplay brainless and completely obvious? There are a shit-ton of titles on Armor, Kongregate and other pages that have premium content and items that make the game easier. Why is this title being picked on? I will leave that up to the reader.
I give Amirand 5 stars...give it a try, follow it through to the end and then judge.
Up, Down, Left, Right
Middle, Up, Middle

I'll be honest with you, this game has potential. But there's just so much that takes away from it, that the diamond in the rough is made flawed. Gameplay wasn't bad, foes and environments were drawn well, especially foes, they were drawn beautifully. Music wasn't a total let down, and battles weren't bad. However, as I said, this game has quite a few problems.
1) The religion thing. I don't believe in your God, and I don't want to. I don't really care what you believe in, and it is wrong of you to try and shove your religion down my throat. Try and keep that out of future games, please. And last I checked, Jesus was benevolent. Why would he want someone dedicating a game about violence to him? You, sir, have a blinded view of Christianity.
2) AP limits, and level up requirements. You see, I played for a while as a Mage character. I had no real qualms about my HP limit, I was a mage, it was supposed to be low. But my physical attacks did next to nothing, and my AP was so low, I found myself using a Green Elixer, or two, after every two-three battles. It made it almost impossible to save up gold for equipment upgrades, and was a waste of my time. Also, you go from level 1 to level 2 in two battles, but then you suddenly need a massive sum of experience to go from 2 to 3. It makes things much less fun, and nobody likes to grind. This didn't help the AP limit issue, either!
3) It is an insult to me, yourself, and the gaming community as a whole, to require players to log in on some other website many of them don't even know, JUST to save their data in your game. This website is Newgrounds, sir. Everything, by Everyone. We do not want your other website, we do not want to register them, and I'm sure many, like me, don't even want to visit them. Please leave that out of your next game. If you can't allow players to save their game locally, without having to visit that stupid website, then don't make the game, please.
Honestly, liked the game and gameplay, hated almost all of the content. You should really think it through next time you release a game. Better luck next time.
