Our hero quests through a retro sidescroller in order to rediscover something that has gradually been declining since its birth, television. It has already taken causalities in the form of zombie robots, which he must overcome to complete his journey.
I wanted to do something a little different with the animation, using an old school gaming genre as a platform. This enabled for a different variety of visuals and allows for anything to happen without it being too unrealistic, while still being fun.
The biggest challenge was overcoming the sheer amount of layers and objects that needed to be used, and trying to get everything organised so that once it became clustered, it wasn't too hard to manage. This wasn't the case.
The experience overall though was great, animation can be a lot of work but at the same time offers a rewarding end product for anyone to enjoy.
I had the idea for the movie by just trying to find something to watch on TV. The amount of complete garbage on TV now a day is enough to drive any sane person crazy. Music channels have coverage of teen pregnancies, and the music itself just encourages those children to get pregnant. The zombie robots are what people are slowly starting to turn into. The hero, Action Dan, is just your typical one liner type guy who's only goal in life was to get away from all the rubbish being forced down his throat. This sparks his urge to go out and find the one good TV show.
However, nice endings are also boring. I thought I'd close things off just by displaying what others may think is the best thing on earth, is actually depressingly stupid, as are the people who act in it.
