Lmao, nice one.

Although the movie was very simplistic, the fact that it was made entirely in AS is a pretty damn big accomplishment. It's also pretty funny to finally see a parody of that great thread from so long ago.

Good stuff.

Kwing responds:

Glad you liked it! :)

Pretty sick

I watched the movie before reading the threads, because I wanted that first impression, and I was wholly ready to blam it to kingdom come, but upon reading exactly WHAT went into the making of this, I can't really complain too much.

Of course I can't let you get away with a ten. I'm really amazed with how you did the entire thing in AS, I have difficulties making simple play and replay buttons. I can see from the script you posted that a hell of a lot of work went into the making of this, for example the exact coordinates for the drawing API, must've been a lot of trial and error going on here.

Then again, this isn't something I'd want for you to work on. Even though it's pretty amazing, it's not really a good flash in that regard.

Kwing responds:

Thanks. Considering how long it took to map this all out, I think we can both agree this is the final product.

As for HOW I used the API, I drew the shapes on the canvas as normal, then took a flash-drawn cursor and lined it up before checking its X and Y to map it as script. So it wasn't much trial and error, but it was quite methodical, especially the last part with the 3D tank.

OMG!

Oh my god, how could I forget this awesome thread? I stumbled across it every now and then and here it finally is! Tanks on Rampage!

Since I don't know anything about action script or how difficult it is to program in it (I know some other programming languages, though) I cannot judge how difficult it was to actually pull this off, but I surely can appreciate the fact you proved that a flash CAN be done with only using action script (there's also a flash game that doesn't use action script at all, it's called NSG014: ASFree if you want to look it up).

I really liked that you put in the name of the tank driver, it gave me a good laugh! :)

Kwing responds:

You're very welcome. This was more tedious than it was difficult to set up the animation, but it still was a lot of work! Basically one variable increases as the movie goes on, and when it reaches a certain amount of time into the animation, it triggers the next sequence.

To the people that made the thread

who r teh nub noew?

Kwing responds:

Thanks for the 10.

Cool

The funny part is I remember when that thread was made too. I was always wondering when someone would finally do it too. Pretty cool how you took his idea and only did minimal artwork as possible while making a very, very long script code to do what JarRock's thread wanted. Cool though.

The animation was very low quality but this was more or less to show off that it could be done in actionscript if one had time and paitence to accomplish doing so in the first place. Still pretty nice though.

Overall, cool little project, the only possible thing missing is sound effects really.

Kwing responds:

Thank you! Since I didn't have any items in my library, any sound I put in would have had to be loaded externally, which could have created a delay and would have been pretty lame if the animation eventually ended up trying to call dead links.
