The String

*2022 edit! I decided to reupload here as a video file (I've been contemplating reuploading a few of my older cartoons even if I'm not as enamored with them now as I was back then) As such, I removed the preloader and fixed the transitions, but I left everything else the same for reservation (and laziness) purposes.

An allegory in the form of a fairytale. The soul is a restless creature.

*edit* For some reason my preloader seems to have issues...nevermind that.

*edit 2* Frontpage even? Awesome. I'm glad more people will watch this now.

Reminds me of the story of the old man and the string, though completely different. Character style is a bit like Legendary Frog, but I guess that's just the eyes and seamless forms on characters, everything else is stylishly minimal! I like the gritty overlay, the change in sceneries, the ambient transitions and sounds... it's a peaceful, sad and philosophical venture. But... I do wish it'd ended differently! Nice work.

Interesting Point of View.

Excellent animation, I like how piece together to tell a story. But, I believe, that when pursuing your dreams resolve is more important than outcome, that dreams are a double edged sword and are worth earthly suffering in the end. I would rather have peace of mind in what I did than to live day to day. Still, great, deep meaning.

Bleak-Creep responds:

I could agree with that. And I'm glad to see that people can have different views on this even when they come to the same interpretation of the story itself, that's pretty fulfilling for me.

very simbolic

the string demands the figure of her wishes, her, goals. yet also a malefactor of her condition in reality

"A girl who chases a faraway dream...

... a dream she will never get to, but she doesn't notice. Getting obsessed with the dream she forgets to live."

I like it...

lol funny

reminds me of that scene in family guy where peter records a plastic shopping bag being blown by the wind.
