Your presentation needs work. A lot of it. We get that it was a prototype for a class, but that doesn't mean you can't be professional about it.
The juxtaposition of the game concept and the graphics make the whole package seems a bit juvenile.
Collision detection makes controlling the character very hard, and the experience isn't very smooth.
And the gameplay model doesn't hook interest at all. Once you get around the clunky controls, you finish the game and there isn't anywhere else to go. That would be okay if the whole thing didn't last 30 seconds.
Try harder before coming back.
